Obesity  continues to be a major health concern in Europe since 2024. According to recent figures, this disorder causes about 1.2 million fatalities per year in the European Region, accounting for more than 13% of overall mortality.

Importance of Sport in Adults and Children

Regular physical activity is essential for both adults and children, providing numerous health benefits. In adults the benefits have an important impact:

Where does Romania stand in this?

According to the most recent data, Romania has one of Europe’s highest obesity rates. According to the Global Obesity Observatory, Romania ranks 16th in the world, with an obesity prevalence of 38.34% among adults. In terms of gender, the Global Nutrition Report shows that 26.3% of adult males and 23.7% of adult women in Romania are obese.

These figures emphasize the substantial public health risk that obesity poses in Romania, emphasizing the importance of effective interventions and policies to address the problem.
